TechArt has been using Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) since the formation of the company.  At that stage our sole activity was the development, simulation and analysis of fire scenarios using FDS.  Since then, we have gained experience using FDS to solve a wide variety of fluid dynamics problems for Fire Engineers and in other situations involving air flows in and around buildings.

Modelling of fire related scenarios has been our primary focus and our knowledge using FDS for this purpose is second to none.   In most cases our clients call us in when they face the most challenging fire modelling scenarios.  When they are unsure, they know we will have the expertise to get it done.

Our reputation for FDS modelling has led us to be involved with other forms of air-flow analysis.  In specific cases, or in cases where we have also conducted smoke hazard analysis, we have been called upon to model other phenomenon that may be of interest to engineers working on the building.  Air quality and air temperature are the two main applications.  FDS is a useful tool for modelling these characteristics and it is often possible to adjust a model that has been used for smoke analysis to easily model air-conditioning scenarios or air quality scenarios.
